Communities all over the state are searching for ways to become more sustainable. The bicycle is a tool that fills multiple needs in the never-ending quest towards sustainability. Whether it is green transportation, eco-tourism, or even bike based public services such as park maintenance – there is an opportunity for bicycles to be a solution. As Billy Nye once said: “There is no machine known that is more efficient than a human on a bicycle. A bowl of oatmeal, 30 miles, you can’t come close to that.” In this session, we will examine the many roles of the bicycle as green technology.
