Per NACTO, Bike Share in the U.S has grown from 320,000 trips in 2010 to 28 million trips in 2016. More trips were taken via bike share in 2016 than the number of people that visit Walt Disney World every year. New York is home to the U. S’s most popular bike share system in Citi Bike, but the explosion of bike share’s popularity has opened the door for smaller communities to experiment with bike share systems. In this session, we will identify how bike share systems can integrate within the multimodal transportation systems of medium and small cities, best practices for implementing bike share systems, how to know when bike share is right for your community, and more.
