Leah Golby

New York Bicycling Coalition
President, Board of Directors
Leah Golby currently serves on the Albany Common Council where she annually sponsors the city’s “May is Bike Month” Resolution and ushered in the city’s 2013 Complete Streets ordinance. With a degree in theatre and a career in non-profit fundraising, Leah considers herself an accidental advocate for people who ride bicycles and walk. When she stopped driving a car regularly in 2007, it didn’t take long for Leah to realize that land use patterns worked against the most vulnerable road users. In 2009, Leah got her first new bike since she was a teenager from the local bike rescue, and became an around-town bicyclist. Leah loves commuting by bicycle in the state’s capital, and she uses bikeshare bikes when she visits other cities. Her bicycle infrastructure advocacy work is mentioned in this 2016 People for Bikes’ Green Lane Project post.
