Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
Manager, Office of Travel Monitoring

The Office of Travel Monitoring conducts approximately 5,000 traffic counts per year, a combination of motorized vehicles and increasingly the bicycle and pedestrian non-motorized modes.  Since adding bicycle and pedestrian counting to an arsenal of data collection tools, the program has established a network of permanent counting stations for use in seasonal factor development, project before / after counts for project evaluation, and most recently a cyclical bicycle counting program to provide a systematic method for tracking usage trends.  Together with database and GIS staff, web viewers have been developed and advanced for the dissemination of count data to stakeholders and the public.

Beyond work at the commission, Mr Brady Chairs the Bicycle & Pedestrian Data Subcommittee of TRB and is a member of the Highway Travel Monitoring and Urban Transportation Data committees.  He has led the bicycle / pedestrian topic tract on the organizing committee for the last two NATMEC conferences.  He was a member of the FHWA Expert Panel which guided development of the latest edition of the Travel Monitoring Guide, the first to include a chapter on non-motorized data collection.  He has also participated in an FHWA sponsored TPCB Peer Exchange.

His education includes a Master of Science in Transportation and a Master of City Planning, both from the University of Pennsylvania.  He has a BA from the University of Washington.
