Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan was appointed to this position on July 21, 2015.  Since April 12, 2007, Commissioner Egan served as Deputy Commissioner for Safety, Consumer Protection and Clean Air where she oversaw a diverse program area that generates over $260 million annually and includes: driver and vehicle safety programs, motor vehicle related businesses, emissions programs, and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee.

Prior to joining the DMV executive team, Commissioner Egan was the Town Supervisor for the Town of Bethlehem, New York taking office in 2004. She also served as Town Justice for the Town of Bethlehem, from 1998-2003, where she became familiar with the Vehicle and Traffic Law and several other DMV programs. She graduated from SUNY at Albany and holds a J.D. from Albany Law School and has practiced law in the Capital Region for more than 25 years.  Terri continues to serve on community based and attorney related committees.
